PetClinicTracker — a medication, vitals and care-routine record for pets with long-term conditions.
Last updated: 8 August 2026
The short version. PetClinicTracker has no account, no server and no network connection. Everything you record stays in an encrypted database on your own device. We do not collect, receive, transmit or store any of it, because there is nowhere for it to go — the app contains no code that sends data anywhere.
What we collect
Nothing. We operate no servers that the app talks to, and the app makes no network requests of any kind. There is no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK and no third-party service that receives information about you, your pets or how you use the app.
There is no sign-up, no login and no account. We do not know that you have installed the app.
What the app stores, and where
Your records
Pets, medications, doses you have logged, measurements, appointments, care routines and notes are stored in a SQLite database on your device. The database file is encrypted, and its key is held in the iOS keychain. It is never written to preferences, to a log, or into the app bundle.
The name you record as
The app asks once for a name so that each dose and reading shows who logged it. This is a label stored on your device alongside your records. It is not an identity, it is not verified, and it is not sent anywhere. Leaving it blank is a complete answer.
Device settings the app reads
- Your time zone. Read from the operating system so a reminder set for 08:00 arrives at 08:00 where you are. It is used on the device and not transmitted.
- Notification permission. Whether you have allowed notifications, so the app can say plainly whether reminders will be delivered.
Reminders
Reminders are local notifications scheduled by your device. They are not push notifications: no server is involved and nothing about your pets leaves the phone in order for one to be delivered. They work with no network connection.
Notification text names your pet and the item that is due, and says that it is due. It never includes a dose amount.
Backups you create
Please read this one carefully. When you create a backup from inside the app, it is written as a readable, unencrypted file into the app's folder in the Files app, so that you can copy it somewhere safe. That is deliberate: an encrypted copy that could only be opened by the device that made it is useless in the situation a backup exists for.
Two consequences follow, and both are yours to decide about:
- The file contains your pets' health records in plain text. Anyone who opens it can read it. Keep it somewhere you are content for that to sit.
- Because it lives in the app's Files folder, it is included in your device's iCloud or computer backup if you have those turned on. Apple's handling of that copy is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.
If you would rather this did not happen, do not create backup files, or delete them from the Files app after copying them elsewhere. The app's own encrypted database is not affected either way.
Sharing and disclosure
We have nothing to share. No data is sold, rented, brokered, or disclosed to anyone, including to us. No data is used for advertising or profiling, and none is used to train any model.
Children
The app is a record-keeping tool for pet owners and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
Your rights
Rights of access, correction, export and erasure normally require a request to a company holding your data. Here there is no such holding: the records are on your device and under your control.
- Access and correction — open and edit any record in the app at any time.
- Export — create a backup file and copy it out through the Files app. This works on every plan, and after any subscription ends.
- Erasure — deleting the app removes its encrypted database from the device. Backup files you have copied elsewhere are yours to delete.
Because we hold nothing, we cannot delete, retrieve or correct anything on your behalf, and a request to us would have nothing to act on.
Payments
Any paid plan is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your card details, billing address or Apple Account information.
What this app is not
PetClinicTracker records what your veterinarian prescribed. It does not diagnose, does not prescribe, and never calculates or suggests a dose. Every dose value in the app was typed in by you from a veterinarian's prescription. It is not a medical device and is not a substitute for veterinary advice.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever gains a feature that sends data anywhere, this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the change will be described here rather than summarised as "we updated our privacy policy".
